Certainly an interesting comparison! If you marry a woman for her tendency to kill people for your benefit, I guess you can't be TOO surprised when she slaughters your children. As for Mary and Joseph, I wonder. On the one hand, it's perfectly possible that they had nothing to do with the decision, that the marriage arrangement was put together by their parents. On the other hand, the fact that Joseph stuck with her even when she was clearly knocked up with some other Guy's baby speaks of a level of passion, or at least love, way beyond Jason and Medea, which was obviously a far more selfish relationship.

I wrote this mainly to fulfill my commitment to Holidailies, and the entry ("submission") shows the some of the drawbacks to my participation in such a challenge. i wrote to the title; nothing, in itself, wrong with that. But I published a draft which needs a bit of clear thought and reflection. Am I writing about my job, and my relationships with the people I work with and for? Am I writing about my tactic for dealing with the relative power relationships there, and in other areas of my life, and in the public square? am I reflecting, perhaps, also, on relationships between individuals, and the tension between openness and honesty on the one hand, and agreeableness and compromise on the other, in those relationships? In the span of a few brief sentences (but enough to fulfill my obligation!) I am addressing all of these questions and areas, and switching among them so fast that it would make anyone's head swim. Including, and especially, my own.

Hm. Today seems to be about Christmas Decorations and Nutcrackers, because the ever-so-slightly sinister Nutcracker made an appearance in my Holidailies post today, too.
